I am the literacy room teacher at a low income school where 100% of my students get free or reduced lunch. There is a high need for more resources to teach my students that are excited about learning and reading.

With the help of DonorsChoose.org, being the smallest school in the district will not be a factor. My students are constantly left out due to the fact that we get the least amount of money at my school and that means we can't purchase extra things we need in our classroom. Why should my students have to suffer because we are a small school? They shouldn't, and with your help I can get the resources that they need to help them learn.

My current 30 copies of Scott O'Dell's Island of the Blue Dolphin are falling apart. After four years of using these books they are now missing pages. Yes, that means the kids love reading these books and have just worn them out. We need a new class set to use for the next four years. I would also like to get the other Scott O'Dell titles. I know my students will love his other books just as much as they have loved Island of the Blue Dolphin. (I have had to take books away to stop them from reading.) There is a true love for reading and they love Scott O'Dell. So please help me in securing new books for my students so next year's group of students will also love an old legend and a great author.

I know that with you help and contribution my students will be a few step ahead in learning how to just sit and enjoy a book. Thank you again for taking the time to read my proposal.
