My students need 5 more computer science books in order to make a complete class set.

Our class works on introducing Computer Programming to a Title 1 community. Many of our students will end this year with a complete turn around in their understanding of computer programming with the capability to think like a programmer. Our biggest challenge is not having a class set of books.
My students are high performing in their academic classes and have been recommended for this programming class.
The students are very active with their ideas and trying new things with the programming algorithms. The school itself is in the same county as a major college. We can work with students from this school as back up to some issues we see with the poverty level in our county. This helps us, but we still need materials for our students in almost every classroom.
The students will be using the books at home. Currently they can only study for tests and quizzes either in class or with another student who was able to check out a book. The students will be able to be more self-driven instead of only being able to perform minimal tasks. The books themselves are a great tool published by Pearson with full color images and great example programs that the students can build from.
This project will make a difference by allowing for more time in class with discussion rather than making sure students have time to access a partner's book.
We can have more activities that can be self-paced rather than working on as a class which leads to more differentiation. As of now we only have 11 books for a class size of 15. The extra books needed reflect the increased demand for computer science classes by the students.
