Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kids love math! Every day, we do a math board where the kids come up and interact with the board. I would like to have fun activities for the board. At the end of the year, my students will have a better understanding of the numbers and what to do with them, and they will have fun learning it!
I work in a Title 1 school in California.
My kids are smart, eager kindergartners! We work hard in our classroom every day, preparing for the next years in school. Many of my students do not have resources at home, they come to school ready and willing to work hard every day and be the best they can be!
My Project
We will use these resources (3-D Magnet Builders, Magnetic Numbers and Counters, Jumbo Ten Frames, Number Bingo and Find the Number Counting Kit) during our math time. Some will be used on the math board, which the kids come up and interact with daily. They will use the magnetic numbers to manipulate around the board. We will order numbers, count things, add numbers, subtract them and use 10 frames to really understand what a number is. Others resources will be used in centers so kids can get more hands-on time with the materials. I would like math to be exciting and fun!
The donations to our classroom will be very beneficial.
First and foremost, my kids will be touching and manipulating the math materials. That always makes learning more fun and engaging. They will go to 1st grade with an amazing knowledge of numbers and what to do with them,
