We Have a Dream Documentary Film Class

We are a large urban high school and have very popular new documentary film classes. I have 5 new film classes and our needs are growing with our increased popularity and student success! Our school is comprised of many different types of students. Each class has a mix of ages, abilities and populations, immigrant children, special ed, hearing impaired as well as gifted students want to reach all our students and enable them to take this class which requires extra expenses. Our media arts program is relatively new and we incorporate technology with creativity.

I want this be an equal-opportunity experience. Students benefit by learning parallel work-force skills and can present themselves using computers, projectors, and dvd films and slide shows. I believe they will be impressive candidates for future jobs as they will really know how to film , document, and convey ideas. Please help provide essential film supplies to help kids actualize their filmmaking proposals. Students love to make films documenting real life and real ideas. However, we have little funding for our film needs. I now have the cameras which students can loan out, but they individually need dvd discs, mini-dv tapes, dvd covers and cases.

We would love to provide our low-income students with these supplies. In a perfect world our lab fees would pay for everything, but most students' families cannot afford to pay these fees. If we had the supplies the students could feel equal to everyone in their capacity to accomplish and document their ideas through film. There would no longer be the feeling of "haves" and have-nots".

We need your help to help our students do the work that they would love to do. Video films are extremely popular. They give the students a populist tool and enable every student to document their personal story. Technology and Creativity give students an edge in the work-force and help them to communicate & express their ideas.
