"Unlimited futures is the goal I have for the students I teach! My classroom consists of 15 high school students who are challenged by life because of their low academic /physical ability levels, but who face the challenge without hesitation!

I teach Special Education and my students all have severe disabilities. However, all of them also want to have choices in life and be as independent as they possibly can! They have the desire to learn the life skills, but lack of materials makes teaching them to cook difficult!

We have a kitchen available for use but no money to buy pans to cook in or containers for storage after food is prepared. Its impossible to learn to cook without the right "tools". Teaching this student population to cook, budget for groceries and shop for supplies, gives them the skills they need to live independently or in a group situation so they will not have to constantly rely on others or society in general for their care and support!

Students who learn life skills become empowered and more self determined. Providing for this seemingly small amount of supplies, will have a ripple effect on individuals, families, and communities at large!

My students need cookware, a popcorn popper and food storage/prep items. The cost of this proposal is $254, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."

Dear Randy, Friends of DonorsChoose.org and Jonathan,
Thank you so much for your generosity in funding my "Kitchen Creations" proposal! I teach students with severe disabilities and learning life skills (like cooking) is essential to their future success and independence. These supplies will not only help these students but will help future students for many years to come! Your act of kindness will effect many more people than meets the eye, plus help develop a higher quality of life for this student population.I look forward to sending photos of all the learning they will do!

Sincerely,
Vicki N
