My students need health/nutrition scoresheets, health and hygiene activities, and investigative materials to show them the importance of health in their communities.
My students are young, passionate, idealistic, and a lot of fun to be around. I want our health lessons to reflect their energy and lively attitudes. With these materials we will be able to investigate the way that health and hygiene are connected to our everyday lives and communities.
Our school is in a rural community and our students are daily confronted with the struggles not only of adolescence, but also of living in a time when education can be undervalued.
My students are lively and inquisitive, and they are looking forward to our new school year in our new school building.
My Project
These materials are going to allow my students to investigate the source of germs and outbreaks, and to look into the mysteries of adolescence, health and nutrition, and goal-setting activities. I am excited at the idea of connecting their health education to both science and social studies curricula while they learn about outbreaks, and their causes and prevention. The materials will also allow the students to explore their own habits and to set goals that will enhance their lives, now and in the future.
Included in this request are health scoresheets and an investigative kit that will help students to realize the connection between their habits and their health while following a scientific path, as well as a kit to specifically illustrate the paths of germs in school. This request also encompasses materials to help students address and understand the issues of adolescence. Additionally, there are action/consequences and life skills for success and well-being interactive activities
Our state is not one of the healthiest when evaluated.
The best way to change this is to encourage young people to practice safe, healthy habits and good hygiene so that they are empowered to reverse the trends of history and to lead by example as they rise up and become active, participating adults. An investment in their health education now will help our students to be advocates for themselves, their families, and their communities. That is the way to change the future.
