The goal of my instruction every day is to have all students engaged in their learning at all times. It is my goal to prepare students to be informed citizens, even at the young age of 8. I want them to learn about the world around them!
I teach in a rural, public school.
Our students come to us in all different shapes, sizes and abilities. Some of our students have supportive families, but for many we are their only support system. School is the only place where they encounter positive experiences. Our students come excited and ready to learn each day.
My Project
With a subscription to TIME for Kids, my students will have access to materials that will not only give them an additional resource to use their informational text skills on, but also a way for them to learn fascinating information about our world. These magazines include articles that 3rd graders can relate to, making it far more interesting and engaging than reading a textbook! Many of my students are high-poverty and many never leave the town in which they live. As their teacher, it's my job to introduce them to the outside world and a variety of experiences. With this subscription, I can also implement various reading and researching activities!
By receiving TIME for Kids, I will be able to teach many of the WV Next Gen.
ELA Standards with high student engagement. Students will be able to relate to the articles and lessons and not even realize we're learning informational text skills! This subscription will also provide my students an opportunity to experience the world outside of their hometown.
