My Students

Have you ever had a great idea in school but struggled to bring it to life? How about if you were able to create a model on the computer and have your vision come alive! This is my dream for my students to bring their imaginations to life and allow them to explore their content in new ways!

Our school has the smallest middle school student body size in the School District.

Student population at our middle school is diverse. Racial makeup is: African American (49.5%), White (35%), Hispanic (13.6%). 75.9% of students are receiving a free or discounted lunch. Our school is becoming a STEAM magnet school next year and plans to implement programs that will allow students access to cutting edge techniques, programs, and learning experiences that will help them compete in high demand careers. I want my students to be able to master technology that will help them compete in our technology dependent world! My students can use technology, but I want them to know how to make it, manipulate it, and use it to solve real world problems. I want my students to be the innovators of the future!

My Project

I would like to implement a STEAM initiative using 3D printing technology, using CAD software as well, in students creating their own models and inventions for use in real life scenarios. In additional, the students would also be utilizing already created 3D programs in order to understand how 3D printing technology works and be able to master it. This 3D printing would be used in conjunction with CAD for: 1.) Understanding hard to grasp scientific concepts in new and innovative ways. 2.) Creating 3D models from designs created using CAD. 3.) Promotion of innovated thinking for new products. 4.) Mastery of 3D printing technology in order to understand how it works and utilize it for STEAM areas. The technology in this 3D printer will help teach standards from the new science curriculum being implemented next year, help students create new and innovate models, presentations for our STEAM units, and promote innovative thinking skills for creation of new products.

Donations for our virtual and 3D modeling program will help to diversify my students knowledge of how technology works and how futuristic technologies can be used in various ways.

Students in our town live in a very high poverty area and don't have access to what they need in order to compete in the careers they are interested in. This will give them an opportunity to bring their inventions to life and promote out of the box thinking that will set them ahead for their futures!
