My Students

My students are enthusiastic about making art.

We are a Title I school in a rural Texas town. We have no art museums and no art supply store, but my kids love to make things. Many of our students lack basic necessities and certainly cannot afford to supply their own glue for art projects, no matter how much they would like to do so.

My Project

We use this basic material all the time. One of our very favorite projects is paper mache monsters. They love doing this project, but because we are surrounded by a corn field, we occasionally get mice in the building. Wheat paste just encourages the beasts, so we use glue instead. I just takes quite a bit of glue!

This project will allow us to use our meager budget on some equipment or other lasting fixture, rather than consumables.

The kids get really excited and happy to create these monsters. You can't go wrong on a monster. You can't mess up on a monster. All kids have success with this project!
