Students walk through the doors of my classroom not knowing what to expect. Our motto is: Expect the Unexpected. The students understand that from the beginning of class until the last second ticks away, we will be in full discovery mode.

They have a pride instilled in them from a young age that we must strive to be the best. Our students are hard working, caring, and creative middle school children who come from a variety of backgrounds and income levels. It doesn't matter if the student was dropped off in a luxury SUV or a barely running minivan, inside of this building, we work as one. We are proud of our students and our school.
My Project
Technology is no longer the future, the future is here. As teachers, we must approach our classroom lessons using a variety of multimedia components in efforts to reach our tech savvy students.
My students spend the school year discovering, researching, uncovering, and applying this knowledge in the classroom environment. Unfortunately, due to strict budgets, we have limited amounts of technology to use in the classroom. As teachers, we make the best of our situation by often bringing in our own personal computers, tablets, etc to use, but it is really never enough.
A new laptop in our classroom would be a device that our students can use to research topics, plan and write about them, as well as present their findings via a variety of multimedia tools such a Weeble, PowerPoint, and Haiku Deck just to name a few.
Even in our age of technology, we still have students who simply are unable to afford to purchase a computer and internet for their home.
As a result, they rely on the school to provide the tools for homework and research projects. A new laptop in my classroom would be a wonderful tool for students during regular classroom hours, and a great resource for students who are unable to access technology at home during their recess/free time.
