Poppin' Good Behavior makes our day!! Our school has many initiatives in place to encourage positive discipline of students with a strong focus on character education. I am one of the resource teachers and assist students in all grade levels academically and socially. The students who would benefit from this proposal are kindergarten through fifth grade students who strive each day to include all students in the activities within our building. Our staff strives to put Inclusive Practices into place so each student is successful and reaches their fullest potential.

It is often difficult to find something outside the norm that helps encourage students to make good choices throughout their school day. This proposal would not only provide for the purchase of the tools to implement a reward program, it would also provide our self contained special education students with the chance to work and maintain our popcorn stand alongside their regular education peer buddies. All students within our building would benefit greatly from the many interactions this proposal would put in place.

The funds provided by this proposal would purchase a popcorn stand and cart to be utilized weekly as a reward for students displaying positive character traits and positive discipline during the school day. The popcorn stand would be set up weekly by parent volunteers, our self contained special education students and their peer buddies. These students would take inventory (counting and soring items needed to run the popcorn stand), assist in the preparation of the popcorn (following directions and reading directions), and running the popcorn stand during the specified time of day students would cash in their "caught being good cards" (social interactions, counting, taking tuns, etc.). All students in our school would benefit from this project in some form. How exciting!!

Your assistance with this proposal would allow students who typically aren't in leadership roles to step forward and provide the needed reinforcement for positive discipline and character traits. How exciting to see a role reversal school-wide as students notice the same students they encourage and support each day and the ones congratulating them for getting "caught being good".
