I am a first grade teacher at a charter school. Our school emphasizes arts and sciences. All of my students are English Language Learners and most are very low income.

My students LOVE learning about science. I love teaching science, but sometimes children just need to see it in a funny and creative way in order to really understand it. However, for my beginning readers, our science book just doesn't do the trick. Too many times it is kinda boring and a little over their heads. And my drawings and explanations just don't suffice. My children need great audiovisual technology, like these DVDs to really enhance our science curriculum.

Have you ever seen Bill Nye the Science Guy? He is absolutely hilarious, and he does a fantastic job taking complicated science content and making it comprehensible for young children. I remember watching him when I was growing up, and I absolutely loved him. Bill Nye is so engaging and interesting my students can't help but pay attention. I am asking for a set of 8 Bill Nye the Science Guy series DVDs including: chemistry, biology, ecology, genetics, physical science, earth science, medicine and astronomy. Each segment is 45 minutes in length.

Bill Nye the Science Guy is a gift to science teachers. He takes boring and complicated information and makes is fun and interesting to young children. I still remember the lessons that I learned from watching him as a child. PLEASE give my students the opportunity to see him in action. I love teaching science, but sometimes I can't get the information across as well as a real scientist. Your donation will ensure that my students will fall in love with Bill Nye and all want to become scientists like him!
