"My 22 fifth graders are full of curiosity. While they live in an area of extreme poverty, they never let their lack of finances hold them back. However, lack of funds means limited life experiences. Many of our students have never ventured more than a few blocks from their houses in their entire lives.
The children in my class have had very little exposure to science and are nervous about experimenting. They are unaware of the world of science surrounding them everyday. They need to engage with science in a hands-on way.
Because of this, I am asking you to help me to bring the world (of rocks) to them. The materials requested will allow every one of my students to touch, evaluate, and experiment with rock classification. These real specimens will be infinitely more powerful a teaching tool than reading about rocks in a textbook. I foresee the students becoming excited about rocks and science.
You hold the key that unlocks my students enthusiasm and joy for learning. Your generous donation will provided countless hours of excitement and scientific exploration. Thank you for supporting my students. Donors, You Rock!
My students need 14 rock specimens for an experimental lesson of Rock Classification.

Dear Josef, Kathryn, Geology.com, Jessie, Cecilia and Anonymous Donors,
Thank you for your generosity in donating to my classroom. My students are very inquisitive. They love learning, especially in science. The materials you have provided will provide my students with many hours of enjoyment and exploration. The hands-on experience with these materials will stay with them far longer than anything they might read in a textbook.
As their teacher, I also want to thank you personally for caring enough about children you have never met to sacrifice your hard earned money in this time of economic need. Thank you for investing in the children of this great nation. This is one investment that is sure to pay immeasurable dividends!
Thank You!
Lori
