Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students are very emotional and economically at a disadvantage, so by reading meaningful picture books to them, I can help build their confidence, improve their social skills, and the students will feel more connected to eachother as classmates; this will foster a non-threatening learning environment.

Since my group of children need many opportunities for extra emotional support, having a nice rug in our classroom would cover the old and stained floors and brighten the classroom environment tremendously, as well as help the children feel more valued and cared about, as they are young children who are economically at a disadvantage.

I have many books available to me to read to the students' throughout the day, especially in the morning, when they seem to need the most emotional support, so gathering them on the carpet will be a nice start of the day and we can have morning meetings more comfortably.

Again, this will ensure that my students feel valued. Morning meetings will be more exciting and comfortable, which will help to foster a positive learning environment and will motivate them to want to read more, since I will be reading books they are interested in and books that will help them to better cope with negative emotions and books that will help them socially in the classroom, as well as out in the real-world.
