The children in my reading class are ready and usually willing to learn. However, these young people have yet to realize the wonder of reading a good book. I want my students to learn to enjoy reading.
My students are a sassy bunch, alive with activity and excitement.
Most of these children come from challenging, economic, situations. When these young people arrive at school, I want them to be able to take the time and enjoy the gift of reading and knowledge.
My Project
My students need high interest books. My students need Fuf Chairs and a rug for a comfy place to read those books. The resources that I am in need of, will give my challenged readers a dedicated place to read the popular books that he or she keeps hearing about. The students can relax on a carpet, or on a bean bag chair, and read a book that will ignite his or her imagination.
In my classroom, I want to foster good readers.
If a child learns learns to read with interesting material, in a comfortable place, he or she has a fabulous chance of believing that reading books is a gift not a chore.
