My students need 5 loveseats to create a reading area! We have many students who spend the majority of their lunch period reading popular books. I'd like to give them a fun reading nook!

My Students

Three Rivers High School is working to increase student interest in reading! Reading is a gateway skill and it is critical that we not only encourage reading but also provide a fun, modern area in which students can read during the regular school day!

Three Rivers High School is home to 750 students and 50 staff members.

Three Rivers High School provides outstanding academic programs, award-winning visual and performing arts programs and extracurricular academic and athletic opportunities that far exceed what most schools provide. TRHS offers traditional academic courses aligned to the Michigan Merit Curriculum, as well as Advanced Placement, dual enrollment and honors courses that meet the needs of our most advanced students. In addition to traditional academic opportunities, Three Rivers High School offers over 300 online courses; our thriving online program serves as a model of excellence, offering students academic opportunities that far exceed those that exist in a traditional high school setting.

My Project

We have a space in the office located nearest the commons area outside the cafeteria that is, for the most part, unused. The increasing number of readers observed during lunchtime has led to an interest in creating a reading nook. We hope to provide students a modern atmosphere which will not only encourage reading but also conversations related to popular titles. We are hoping to purchase five purple reading chairs. These chairs are modern, low profile and comfortable! Our students will LOVE them!
