My sensory motor area needs a variety of resources, including an acoustic relaxation machine, ooze tubes, E-Z squeeze balls, a time tracker and a bean bag chair.

I am a social worker in a very financially restricted inner city school. We have a wide variety of students with special needs within the school. They really need a quiet, sensory area set up within the school. Their special needs range from underdeveloped language and motor control to autistic to severe emotional issues. Please help me assist these needy students.

Our special needs and autistic students are in need of a quiet sensory area to help stay emotionally calm and safe and to maximize their learning potential. These materials will supply much needed tactile, visual and auditory sensory input. Right now my students have no designated space and no materials to use when they need assistance with successfully controlling and managing their stress, frustrations, and anger.

Our students are in need of these supplies which research has shown will work to help them cope with the stress that school brings them. Increasing an autistic or emotionally challenged student's sensory diet is a healthy way to help them over come stress, focus and maximize their learning potential.

Please help to bring my students the "sensory diet" that they need. I am requesting a bean bag chair for my quiet corner, a weighted blanket and other visual and auditory sensory equipment. By funding this equipment, you will make it possible for my emotionally challenged and autistic students to be calmer, more focused and ready to learn.
