Do you have a black and white TV or is it color? My 6th graders need color to help them organize their lives in a totally new middle school environment. Math papers are pink and social studies papers are green. At least they used to be until there was a cut in our school budget.

Because of financing issues, white paper is the only paper we can order. It is a cost saving method of the administration. After 17 years of teaching at this grade level, I know that colored paper works!

My students are new to middle school and a major problem for them is being organized. I teach 5 classes and 2 of the classes are special education inclusion classes. My students have to adjust from elementary to middle school, from 1 classroom to traveling to 8 classrooms per day. It is so helpful for the children to know that when it's time for math they just grab the pink papers from the locker and when it's time for social studies they grab the green sheets. They finally have their locker combinations figured out and colored paper would be so helpful.

You can make the difference for a 6th grade child and empower them with the confidence that will carry them through the year. Next year they'll be fine with white paper but please help them this year. Thank you!
