Successful Low income, Charter, minority school in Chicago's West Side needs to hear the outside world of Latin American and Spanish stories for burgeoning Spanish class and department!

I have a classroom set of iPods where students listen to Latin Rap songs and dissect the Spanish words for building audio comprehension and vocabulary. They love listening, but there aren't any audio short stories for uploading to the iPods. The Spanish 3 students will improve their reading and interpreting skills by recording the stories, while the Spanish 1 students will grow in their grasp of words, sounds, and accent.

I have the ten classroom iPods, and Spanish 3 always holds about 9 students, so they would each need one voice recorder that uploads to a mac computer to convert to sound files that iTunes can use. These recorders will do the trick! This iterative project will benefit the users of the device and the end users of the stories. They will also double as personal tools to improve speaking ability throughout the year, not just the Latin American Audio Library Project.

The donation will make our classroom and school ahead of any other than I have ever heard, and will excite students to read more books! I cannot think of a set of tools more fun and useful to the intellectual and linguistic growth of my Spanish students of all levels, Spanish One, Two, and Three!
