A world without color wouldn't be much of a world at all. That's how we are beginning to feel in my art room. You see, all of the markers that my students use for their projects are drying up quickly. I teach art in a rural elementary school (grades K-4th) that has a high poverty rate and around 75% free and reduced lunch. You can imagine that over 500 students coming through my classroom every week really use up the markers quickly.
I thought I was in good shape at the beginning of the year as far as markers were concerned, but I've been surprised at how quickly they have been used up. Now, the students are becoming frustrated when they are asked to use markers because they have a hard time finding one that works correctly.
If my students received these class sets of markers, it would add to the community of my room and to the students' enthusiasm, as well. If the markers were purchased, each student would be able to use any color at any time. That would make for happy kids! Also, they wouldn't have to wait on someone else to get finished with the "good marker" before they got a turn. Also, it's just human nature to get excited over something new. This would definitely get the kids excited again over using this particular tool to produce art work.
You will make it possible for my art students to have something that many teachers, parents, and kids may take for granted. When you have 500+ students using markers., the need is great and will make many children and one art teacher very happy. Not to mention how much more attractive the displays around the school will be with these new bright and beautiful markers. Thank you for your funds and support!
