"I teach 10th grade high school English in the literal poorest county in the state of Florida. Many of my students show up to class without having their own pencils or paper.

My students are typically born into poverty, and statistically are the poorest in the state, however they perform near or better than their more financially endowed peers. They are creative and resourceful and astonish me on a daily basis with their fortitude and humility.

Specifically, I am requesting a class set of collegiate dictionaries, approximately twenty(Websters Dictionaries). In addition, I have selected approximately twenty books from the teen best seller list for our classroom library("Confederacy of Dunces","Be The Pack Leader", "The Year of Living Biblically", "The Book of General Ignorance", "The Daring Book For Girls", "Good Dog Stay", "Readers Theater For Fluency", "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens", "The Dangerous Book For Boys", Books by Ben Rehder: "Flat Crazy", "Bone Dry", "Gun Shy", "Buck Fever", "Guilt Trip"). Some of the title are selected specifically for my students and their rural interests. These dictionaries and books will open new opportunities to my students to have access to fresh and interesting literature to read as well provide important tools for English. I know that my students thrive on whatever care and attention is given to them. They do not take anything for granted and seize opportunity. When they are presented with new resources they utilize all of their abilities to make the most of what they have to work with. Having dictionaries and decent books in the classroom that the students may check out and take ho

Be assured that a donation to my students is empowering truly humble and deserving people that need some help. These students will also see first hand what good really people do for the world around them. Your acts of extreme charity and benevolence will also instill in a sense of value in themselves. My students will not lightly accept charity and will carry a sense of duty to perform to the best of their abilities. Finally I know that my students are becoming a great generation of hard and compassionate people that understand what hardship is and that good people can help each other overcome hardship and improve the world around us.

My project needs 20 collegiate dictionaries and books from the teen best seller list, including "Confederacy of Dunces","Be The Pack Leader", "The Year of Living Biblically", "The Book of General Ignorance", "The Daring Book For Girls", "Good Dog Stay", "Readers Theatre For Fluency", "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens", "The Dangerous Book For Boys", Flat Crazy", "Bone Dry", "Gun Shy", "Buck Fever", "Guilt Trip" and "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian." The cost of this proposal is $480, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."

Dear WILLIAM & PHOEBE,
I want you to know that I literally shouted out for joy when I learned that you have generously granted my request for my students! I will be sharing the fantastic news of your gifts to my classes today. Some of my students were skeptical that anyone would come forward to help our small part of the world. However, your wonderful acts of generosity and kindness serves as an example of how good people can really be. On behalf of my English II Sophomore classes at Interlachen High School, thank you. Your donation will be appreciated on so many levels for my current students and many more students in the years to come.

Very Truly,
Jeffrey P. L
