"Computers are essential! My first graders are in serious need of access to functioning computers. My students are primarily low-income, high-need English Language Learners.
My classroom currently has a broken down iMac from 10 years ago, a barely functioning iMac of the same vintage. I also have two PCs that threaten to crash virtually every week. As it is, my students are limited to Kidpix for their computer center. The two PCs are hooked up to the Internet, but do not have enough speed to allow someone to reasonably use the Internet.
Technology is not just important to education these days, it is vital. My school doesn't have the budget to provide new computers to every classroom. This proposal allows me to envision a sleek computer corner with two new iMacs for my first graders to use to both expand their reading and math skills as well as exploring the vast world of technology.
