I teach English as a Second Language and Sheltered Math in grades k through 5. Our school has high numbers of Latino students. Besides ESL and Sheltered Math programs we offer Native Language Literacy Program as well.

At our school students are learning math first in Spanish. When they come to my Sheltered Math class they have to transfer their knowledge to English. They have to learn math vocabulary in English and get ready for testing in English.

I need math manipulatives such as Base Ten Sets, Fraction sets, and teacher guides to teach math concepts and vocabulary to Latino students in grades k through 5. English Language Learners understand and remember things much better when they use concrete objects, especially in math.

Your purchase of Math Manipulatives for my Sheltered Math class will allow our Latino students to acquire deeper understanding of new math concepts as well as improve their math vocabulary. It will also help me to do my job better.
