Approximately 75% of the students qualify to receive free lunch.
As a result of insufficient funding, our classrooms are forced to function without many essential supplies, including art supplies. The shame of it is that many of the education pundits who sit in their ivory towers have decided that courses such as art and music are superfluous and unnecessary to our students' education. What these people do not understand is that quality education cuts across the disciplines. Art allows students to explore cross-curricular connections to other subject areas, such as science, English language arts and social studies.
I am writing this proposal for various art supplies so my students will get the chance to explore those cross-curricular connections. What is very important is that the students will be able to experience painting with watercolors and other arts and crafts while also gaining basic skills such as using scissors and glue.
The cost of ten rolls of suitable paper, ten watercolor paint sets, thirty five paintbrushes and four paper shapers, all purchased from Mister Art, is $1,190, including shipping and fulfillment |
