"I teach in a rural 2-teacher school. Most of my students are Native Alaskans (Alutiiq). Our school is in a small island village. The nearest store is 45 minutes away by air. Therefore, subsistence is a lifestyle familiar to our students and salmon and blueberries are an important part of this lifestyle today, as well as in the past.
Our school has collected local and traditional stories, facts, pictures, artwork, and recipes about salmon and blueberries and created books about each. The students and community are proud of their culture and of these books and would like to share them with others.
We want our books to be in color. Therefore, we need a color printer and ink so that we can print our books. With your help, our students can become published authors.
Our students and community are proud of their heritage and these books will allow others to have a glimpse into this unique lifestyle. Support our project and receive signed copies of our student's books.
Thank you.
My project needs a color printer and ink to print student-made books.

Dear cris, Friends of DonorsChoose.org Alaska, and Anonymous Donor,
"We have been funded and will soon be publishing our books at school!" The students cheered and clapped. Smiles were everywhere.
Thank you for supporting our students and providing this opportunity. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
Thank you again,
