"We are 6th grade students excited about middle school! We live in a very rural area (the nearest large bookstore is two hours away) with few opportunities for cultural literacy. But we are far from deprived!

For our team of 85 students and 4 teachers, the internet is our main access to the rest of the world. We spend two class periods twice a week in the computer labs doing research and exploring ideas. We also spend time posting to our class blog. Through our class blog, we post comments to teachers and each other, and each student has his or her own blog to post musings, opinions, and inspirations.

Blogging is much more exciting than traditional notebook journaling, yet still reinforces crucial literacy skills, like standard language usage, while also allowing students to develop style, voice, organization, and flow in their writing. To enhance the blogging experience, and incorporate media and technological literacy as well, we need a good quality digital camera to capture the exciting events we discuss in our blogs. Our current pictures come from a teacher's personal camera or internet-poor quality photos from an "old as dirt" digital camera checked out from the media center.

Our blogs are our main voice in the world, and we want to present, and improve, ourselves with all the passion and pizzazz we possess! Thanks for helping us develop literary skills in a digital age!

My project needs a quality, but simple-to-use digital camera for classroom use.
