" I am a first year teacher with a fantastic group of enthusiastic third graders. The public school where I work serves a diverse group of urban students.

As technology advances, education has not. It is time to bring our schools into the 21st century in order to prepare our students for the competition they will face in our global economy. Technological aptitude will be a requirement when these students enter the job market. Technology can also be used to teach the core curriculum by appealing to students' interests and addressing multiple learning styles.

Podcasting has become an invaluable educational tool. Educational podcasts make content in all curricular areas more accessible. Podcasts can also help with reading fluency. There is no end to how podcasts can be used in the classroom. I would like to begin using this technology in my class and in our after school GATE program. I have requested three ipods to get us started.

This proposal goes beyond the materials that I have requested. This project will help to launch an ongoing effort to bring our school and my classroom into the 21st century.

My project needs three iPods to begin our cross-curricular podcasting!

Dear Sovereign-Lack Family, Christine, Susie, Cindy Muzio, Miraloma parent, Sara, june, Carolyn & Jim, Marti, maria and Anonymous Donor,
Thank you for funding this project. Technology is often pretty far down on the priority list for schools so teachers have to find creative ways to incorporate up to date technology in the classroom. Having these iPods will help us to continue our technology integration efforts despite the fact that we will not have a computer lab next year.

On Apr 4, 2008, Ms. W. followed this note with student letters sent via mail to the donor who completed this project, and to donors who gave $100 or more.
