"I teach at a school for students with autism, at the middle school level. Our class would like to start a daily yoga practice as part of our classroom routines in the mornings.

The benefits of yoga are widely talked about and well-known, but did you know yoga has exceptional benefits for students with autism? It helps them develop awareness of their bodies, their movement in space, and their physical health, while also helping to make tremendous gains in their ability to attend to task and follow directions.

We have only tried out yoga on a limited basis, and yet I can already see the wonderful benefits that doing daily standing and mat yoga will have for our class! The students light up, become engaged, listen carefully, and follow verbal directions! It is amazing!

We need mats, though, in order to have a full yoga practice each morning, involving standing, sitting, and mat poses. Some of the poses that my students love best are things that we simply cannot do without a sturdy nonslip surface!

Please donate so that we can begin to incorporate a full yoga practice into our classroom as soon as possible!!! It will help my students grow so much as learners and members of a social community!

My students need 8 yoga mats in order to participate in a daily yoga practice.
