Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 4th grade in a racially and linguistically diverse urban classroom. While most of my students know enough English to communicate confidently in class, a third of my students do not. For example, I have six Spanish-speaking students who have a basic command of simple vocabulary but struggle greatly with verb tense. Similarly, I have two Chinese students who immigrated to the United States this summer and speak on a few simple phrases. These children all desperately want to learn the language and participate in class. Yet, with 32 students, it is often difficult for me to find the time to offer them the 1-on-1 teaching that they need in order to make progress. At times, my English learners find school incredibly frustrating. I would like to provide my current and future newcomers with the best possible language-learning resources: Rosetta Stone Software. The software would offer them a structured, self-paced curriculum that they could work on independently. It is designed to immerse them in the language so that they grow more confident in their ability to speak, listen, write, and read in English. Please consider donating this software to our classroom. Just think about the lives you could change!
