Picture my class. I teach a terrific group of diverse kindergarteners at a title one school. We have an ever growing Hispanic population. We come from different neighborhoods. We have different experiences at home. We come from a variety of family types. Some of us have a home and some of us float from homes to shelters. Some of us have been wildly successful in school so far and some of us are beginning to learn letters. We have an important similarity. We are proud of all we are learning.

Picture the excitement of Kindergarteners learning. When reading a book or completing an activity kindergarteners scoot in close and you often hear, "let me see!" Picture me making transparencies of student papers and materials for the class taking valuable time and money. Then the children still can't see because the bulky overhead cart and projector are blocking their view. I might be resorting to boring worksheets so we all have a paper but this too can be a waste of valuable time. Showing examples of students solving math problems is more of a circus show than teaching as I juggle materials students used to show their work in front of the class when the intention is to model the student's thought process.

Now, picture this! You have given my class the gift of a document camera. I have had great success integrating technology into our lessons. With the document camera I am quickly showing all students books, student writing, models, learning manipulative's, and every day objects on a large screen. Students are proud as the class views their writing, and they read together and to each other, and we are solving math problems. Students are becoming teachers with this technology. We are solving math problems every day and students are showing the class how they solved the problems. Picture this, the possibilities are limited only by our imaginations.

Picture this, you can make a difference in the life of a kindergartener. With your donation we can improve their education. Gone will be the days of children yelling, "let me see!"
