We have a voice but how do we sound? Our 4th grade classroom is in desperate need of materials to help us hear our reading. We are an integrated classroom with several special needs students. We also service a high-needs community of students.

We need to set up a listening station in our class so that we can read stories and listen to them at the same time. We want to hear how we sound reading! The only way that we can do that is to record our voice as we are reading stories, listen to it, and read it until we are perfect. This is going to be awesome because once we are reading fluently we are going to make our own "Books on Tape" to send to the younger classrooms!

What we need to be able to do this is a listening center that can play Cd's and tapes. When we do our groups we can all read the stories together and have our discussion. With the digital recorders we are going to record ourselves as we read stories, listen to ourselves, and catch our mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes while we are reading, and learning to catch those little mistakes will have a huge impact on the students' reading ability! After we have mastered reading a story fluently, we can download the stories to Cd's and give it to the younger students so they will have more stories to hear!

Not only will your help with this project allow my students to develop as readers, you will allow them to help make a difference for other students. You will give them the chance they need to feel pride in their reading abilities!
