Passionate writers waiting to publish. Everyday I look out the window and see my second grade class in their line ready to enter the school building with a smile on their faces. I find it amazing because many of them have a very hard home life, but they leave that behind and are ready for the day.

This year many of my students did not bring school supplies to start the school year. They could not afford them so I decided to buy my students their writing journals. The students appreciated them and started writing and writing. Soon I discovered that they were taking pieces of lined paper and stapling them together to create a book. They love to add details and illustrations to their stories.

My students are excited about writing and this project will help my students become better writers. They will gain confidence and writing skills. It is difficult to get students engaged in writing, so when you find something they enjoy doing that supports academics you have to build on it. My students want to publish their own stories and share them with other students. To do this my students need supplies that the school can not supply. They are in need of paper, pencils, and book binding kits. These supplies will help them create their own books.

With your help my students will become the publishers they want to be. They are so eager to write. You will ensure that they get the chance to create and share their pieces of writing with others.
