Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach high school general music and give voice and violin lessons after-school and during lunch. My ninth grade students have enthusiastically been giving up their lunch period to play the violin. They are all beginners and have had very little prior musical experience.

For the past two months students have been sharing my old violin from the 4th grade. Despite it being pretty beat up, they are falling in love with playing the instrument.

What a thrill it would be to have two beautiful new violins. I dream of a having an orchestra and these instruments would be the seeds of that becoming a reality.
