Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A creative, fun filled classroom requires a lot of paper! I teach a Kindergarten bilingual special education class in which the students are classified as Mentally Retarded. Being that these students are both bilingual and MR, it is very difficult for them to grasp concepts easily and they require a large amount of sensory experiences.

I love to create crafts and projects with my students based on the units we are learning. This helps them use their senses to comprehend the information being taught. Most of these crafts require paper of different sorts. In the past, my school provided us with paper. However, due to budget cuts they can no longer provide it. I would love to continue to create crafts as I have done in the past, but without the funds needed for the various paper materials it would be very difficult.

A large supply of construction paper, tissue paper, foil paper, and other assorted paper materials, would enable me to continue to create projects with my students. Hopefully, these crafts will stimulate their senses and enhance my lessons.
