Origami History Alive!

My students need 9 origami materials such as paper, wiggly eyes, paint, and story books.

Grade Level: 5th Grade Number of students: 33 Community: This class is extremely diverse. They are in need of resources to make this possible. We need to complete this project by May 2010. Please help us make this possible. The instructor will be the teacher. I have the origami skills to make this possible. I teach all subject areas. History is one of the subjects that I teach. It is an extremely great interactive learning experience. We will make history come alive the origami way!

We don't have the necessary origami paper to complete this project. It requires a lot of origami paper and other supplies to make this possible. As their teacher I will use my origami skills to make this possible. I will teach the students the beginner and intermediate folds. There will be designated students in the classroom to help other students. The students will have written historical journals along with the origami people figures and objects. We will have the origami history display in our classroom. Our classroom will be transformed into a origami history museum with detailed explanations!

My students will be able to learn unique folds which will increase their multiple intelligences. All students in my class will and can learn. They will learn how historical events impact our lives. The 5th grade history standards will become alive with origami! The students will benefit by learning how to fold the various paper objects that reflect past and present historical events. They will apply mathematics skills as well by learning unique easy to complex folds with success. This will prepare the students to associate the origami figures to the real life historical events that took place. It will help all students in my class to develop powerful skills for lifelong reading and historical art skills. This project will draw reluctant history readers into a potentially artistic learning experience. The students will be able to describe the events by designing the origami figures which depicts the historical events. They will be able to use descriptive words and artistic displays to reflect their historical learning experiences. They will learn detailed ways of designing the people and other similar events that took place by just using origami paper.

This will be the greatest origami history project established! This has never happened. I will and can empower my students to take history to another level. They will incorporate math and artistic skills to learn. We have been learning about the Native American, The New World, English Settlements, Colonies, slavery and the Revolutionary War. We need the resources to make this possible. We will post virtual pictures of our classroom!
