Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My school is a High School located in Brooklyn. It is a high poverty high school and we need help because things are getting bad with the budget. Kids need resources to get out of high school and into college.

Budgets have been devastating and educators have had to learn how to do without things in the classroom. Last year our students asked for certain books to be used in history classes. One title they asked for was "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln" because they had heard so much of it during Obama's Presidential election. With the recent budget cuts we have been unable to handle the purchase of new textbooks so students are reading the same old boring texts that they do not want to read.

This book will be used in class to help students not only pass the US History Regents which is required for graduation, but it will help them prepare for college. Students will be citing the book in M.L.A. format which is a way of citing sources when they go to college.

Help keep education as the great equalizer of American society. With your help my students can get their fair shot at a good education. They will have resources that the budget cuts are keeping away from them. Help!
