I teach first grade at an Exemplary school in Texas. Although we have good credentials with our state standards, many of our students are considered at-risk and are ESL learners.

In first grade, students are taught the basic foundations of literacy. Learning to read is a huge challenge for many students.

There are so many ways I could use ipods in my classroom each day. I would be able to use the ipods for a really neat reading program that I use in my classroom called Read Naturally. Read Naturally helps students become better readers by using a unique strategy that builds fluency and comprehension. With the ipods, I would be able to create a podcast of all the Read Naturally stories. The students would then be able to listen to the ipod and read along with the recorded stories. The ipods would allow me to serve more students at one time, creating a classroom full of fluent, successful readers.

Your donation will make it possible for me to have a classroom full of children who not only love to read, but also feel confident about reading. By implementing ipods into my classroom, reading will become appealing to each student. With your help, we can spark a lifelong interest in reading!
