Games! Games! Games!

My students need a Zoob Car Designer, a set of Log Builders, Easy-Punch Design Shapes, a Super-Safe Craft Tape Center with extra tape and a Favorite Action Games Set.

I teach third grade in a New York pre-k to 8th grade public school. The school is in a high need area where most of the students receive free lunch and breakfast 12 months of the year. My class of 24 children is very diverse and consists of students from various cultures and ethnic backgrounds. I work in a Collaborative Team Teaching environment where 40% of the students receive special education and related services.

My third grade students get one period of choice activity time a week. The students typically look forward to this time where they get to choose an activity to do with their friends. The resources in our classroom are very old. Games are broken and missing pieces. The supplies for art consist of crayons and markers. The students lack games and art supplies to stimulate their play.

My students need new and exciting games and supplies to foster their curiosity and community building. The game set requested includes games such as "Sorry" and "Trouble", all new to my students. The "Log Builders" and "Zoob Car Design" will allow the children to work together to build wheeled vehicles as well as houses and communities. The materials requested are far different than activities my students have played in the past, such as Lego's. In addition, the art supplies needed for my students will foster their imagination. Their creations will go well beyond drawings in colored pencils to include designs with shapes punched out of the paper and colored craft tape. The new activities will certainly excite and provide new opportunities for exploration in the classroom. While engaged in the new games and art supplies, students will naturally encourage students to work together and share their new experiences with their peers and family members.

Your contribution will provide exciting play opportunities for my third grade students. They will have so many more opportunities to explore their interests and engage in cooperative learning during their choice activity time.
