My students need a weather station that records and stores minimum and maximum temperature, wind speed, wind direction, wind chill, rainfall and humidity.

Our class wants to make a difference. I teacher fifth and sixth grade math and science. We are at a Charter School in a coastal community.

My students and I have always loved collecting weather data throughout the year. We learn a lot graphing and analyzing the data to help understand weather and climate. One of our big concerns is how humans are affecting the climate on Earth. Being located on the coast, we talk a lot about how climate change may affect our home. It is difficult to continue to find reliable data about the weather from the limited tools we have now. It is also hard to record data throughout the day, because our days are packed with all our academic classes.

We would love an electronic weather station that recorded weather data throughout the day and night. We want to use this data to participate in the GLOBE program, so we can share data with students all over the world. We will continue to use our more reliable data to learn about weather and climate, with less sources of error.

Your help will ensure that young people will have a fulfilling, hands-on experience with science. They will grow into educated citizens ready to make difficult choices about the challenges facing our planet.
