My students need a collection of 22 rocks and mineral samples.

My school is a low income school where 95% or more of the students are on free lunch, and live in shelters as well as being homeless.

My students love hands on science activities. In the picture you can see how involved my students were during this experiment.

The resources of minerals and rocks will help me introduce my students to our earth in a fun and hands on way. Last fall my class had a great time finding items like leaves, sticks and then making a collage with them. I feel that by exposing them to what minerals are as well as the different types of rocks, they will not only learn about them and have fun, but will also carry that knowledge with them as continue with their education.

It is important at a early age to help our children learn all about our earth and how it is important to us and how to take care of it. You will make it possible for my students to find an interest that just may help them want to stay in school.
