Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a 7th grade mathematics teacher in a high-need school district. We are far behind the state average for math skills.

My students have fallen behind in math due to various life situations, and I believe it is my job to enable them to enjoy and excel in the study of math. I want to provide them with activities that are interactive and fun so that they understand math is important, and most of all that they ALL CAN ACHIEVE IN MY CLASS and other math classes in the future.

It is very helpful to have a safe environment for students to show me what they know, and how they are doing so that I can better assist those students who need extra help to grasp a concept, and provide extra work for those who are excelling already. Using personal whiteboards is a great way to check for understanding quickly and individually in any situation. I can have each student work out the problem by his or herself, then share it with me by simply holding it up. This way they don't have to raise their hand, they can show me what they know without the fear of embarrassing themselves with a wrong answer.

Your help in obtaining these whiteboards will empower my students. It will give them a chance to build their skills in math, and be prepared for 8th grade algebra! By helping them excel this year, you will be giving them the opportunity of choice for the rest of their life.
