Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach science to 6th graders at a low income school. Most of my students have never had their hands on real science lab equipment or looked through a microscope. I believe that even at my school there could be a future scientist that could one day find the cure for cancer.

All of my students love to see what's on the microscope slide, but sharing three microscopes amongst 30 students is frustrating. They have to wait in long lines to view the microorganisms that they extracted from the river or the mold that they grew. They are eager to learn and identify the microbes, but they need to all have access to the microscope slide.

A microscope camera is the solution. I could prepare a slide and the whole class would have access to it with this projector. I could point out specific organisms and details, and each student would be able to see it at the same time. Their enthusiasm for science would multiply because we could cover more material at a quicker rate with more detail. It would be a great addition to our classroom and help with science.

Your help will give my low income students the opportunity to feel like real scientists and biologists. You could give them access to science equipment that would make learning interesting and fun. Students will love science because it won't be frustrating. You will make it possible for each of my students to be engaged in science class 100% of the time. It is so important to give low income students the same opportunities that upper class students experience. Your donation will make that possible. Thank you for believing in education and for your support.
