The next food celebrity just might be sitting in my classroom and I want to help them get discovered! The Nutrition and Wellness course that I teach helps students in grades 10-12 learn food preparation techniques to make their diets healthier and promote overall positive health.

We all know wise food choices are important, but there's another layer to this class--integrating technology to improve students' overall success in the future workplace AND helping them discover a potential career in any area--maybe even in front of the camera. Too many times I see students who impose limits on their future careers and I want them to explore any and all avenues that might interest them.

Previously, we attempted creating food preparation videos, with a setup similar to a show you might find on the Food Network. We ran into difficulties with the use of technology, so these three digital cameras/camcorders would help the students see more success with the finished product.

Even greater than the success of a finished project is the improved confidence and public speaking skills students gain each and every time they complete a task that gives them an audience. By contributing to this project, you will be giving students an opportunity to improve these skills that will be a valuable asset to them no matter what career path they choose.
