Creating Public Service Announcements for Food Pantry

Help kids help others! High school English students want to improve their community by building awareness of the needs of the local food pantry. A university professor will come in to teach them essential media and technology skills that are lacking in the curriculum.

It is essential that we get a digital camcorder to use in the classroom to create these Public Service Announcements and edit the videos on the computer. These are 21st Century skills mandatory for students to compete in the world. These videos will appear on the local school cable channel where the whole community will see their messages.

This digital camcorder that's needed will be shared with seven teachers in the English department so that all high school students in our building will have access to this technology. PSA's will be created not only for the food pantry, but for bringing awareness to the problems of texting while driving, preventing child abuse, and helping out the community library. It's a win-win situation where students will benefit from the technology skill and the community will benefit from the PSA commercials they create.

This is not just one project for one classroom you will support, but an unlimited amount of Public Service Announcements from several classrooms that will benefit thousands of people.
