I am a fourth year teacher that enjoys real-life experiences. I teach at a school that has 80% free-or-reduced lunches. I teach in an area that has very low economic status which hinders my students ability to get outside of the classroom. In my school's community, parents are working to put food on the table, not to provide enriching activities. However, that is where you and I can work together to make something magical happen!

I love the classics. There's no better way than to provide learning opportunities followed by rewards. Thus, when I heard that Disney was creating a movie entitled "Alice in Wonderland," I had an idea. I am a true believer in reading the book BEFORE the movie. I proposed to my Principal that my students read Lewis Carroll's 'Alice In Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There' then go to the movie together as a whole 7th grade. He loved the idea-but one problem---I don't have the books in the library and no resources to purchase the books.

This is where you can make the difference! By donating to my class, my students will be able to read a classic, be submerged in great literature and become hooked on timeless writing. I have already contacted my local theater and they are willing to donate the tickets to the Disney show at a substantial discount (all most giving them away) and I have the bus paid for as well. I NEED BOOKS FOR OUR JOURNEY TO BEGIN!
