I am a second year teacher who treats every child like a fragile flower. I taught 3rd grade last year and now am content in kindergarten. It has been an incredible experience watching my students grow and blossom into successful readers and writers. I feel privileged to be the nurturer of each flower and having such an impact on each one of their lives.

I am a firm believer that literacy is the foundation for their success. In my 3rd grade experience I had a few books passed down from a previous teacher, which helped build my classroom library. In taking the kindergarten position, I packed up the chapter books, and again, had to build a new classroom library to fit the kindergarten level. Unfortunately, with a small fund to work with, I am unable to purchase the books and listening centers that I feel are necessary to have available for my growing minds.

We need a varied collection of picture books for our classroom library and listening centers. Having a variety of literature exposed to my students will enable them to gain a greater interest for literature and allow them to build on their literacy skills.

Your help will allow my students to be exposed to new literature and allow them to gain a love for reading.
