My students need 20 Jumbo Magnetic Balls, 12 eyedroppers, 12 magnifying glasses, 12 magnetic wands, a general science kit and 18 subscriptions to Weekly Reader to explore their world!

I teach Pre-Kindergarten to a mix of low-income and military families from a highly deployed army base in Northern New York.

The majority of students in my classroom are deeply affected by the deployment of their parents in the Army. These parents are stationed at Fort Drum, home of the most deployed division to current war zones. These children are often left several times for many months by one parent which leaves the other parent to do the work of both parents. Many of my other students come from low income families that have lived in the area for many generations. All of my students miss out on many opportunities to explore their world away from their everyday surroundings since traveling is very expensive for low-income families and difficult to do with only one parent. My students are very interested in learning about things in our world that we do not have direct access to in our small communities with more science materials I know I can do this!

My goal is to bring the world to my students. I am hoping to do this by providing them with opportunities to explore, experiment, and enjoy all of life's amazing features. Using items that I have asked for we will be able to read about and study in depth important concepts and creatures such as life cycles, animals, sea life, plant life, and most importantly, ourselves! Most of the items I have asked for will serve students for many years to come and the Weekly Readers will be shared by my 36 students.

Your help will ensure that my students are able to study something that they love, the earth. In addition, they will experience and read about things they do not see or live with on a daily basis.
