Bring Science to Life for First Graders!!

My students need 8 science puzzles and games to cover each unit in the first grade curriculum. These units are foods and nutrition, weather and seasons, and animals and habitats.

I teach first grade in a high-needs community. In the past, science was taught by a science teacher, but this year we started teaching science in the classroom twice a week.

Though we are now teaching science, we do not have proper science materials, including texts or curriculum. Instead we follow the state guidelines for what to teach, and scramble to find resources along the way. The first grade science curriculum covers many topics that the students LOVE to learn about! We learn about animals, foods, weather and seasons, and properties of matter.

My solution is to get wonderful science materials that match our needs. These include lots of puzzles and games where the students learn about healthy produce, animals and habitats, and weather and the seasons. Each of these items is bright and colorful and a LOT of fun. We start each year learning about animal diversity and habitat. The students learn best through visual images and hands-on activities. We can use the wild animal pieces and zoo as teaching tools to look at their attributes and then as a part of science work time, where the students can use the animals to explore with. Then our class will move on to learning the seasons and weather. The games and puzzles I ask for have great visuals on the different times of year and the solar system. Students learn how the sun and moon affect our weather systems as well. Games on the weather help students understand the different things we need for each weather change. Finally, we finish off the year with food and nutrition. Students learn about healthy eating and trying new produce items that they might not have at home. I am asking for plastic produce to help the students become excited about eating healthy choices and finding

Here is your chance to spark interest in science in young learners! Students will become excited about science and potentially continue with science throughout their lives.
