Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a math teacher in a high need community, which has an unemployment rate higher than the state's average. Some of our students are working part-time to help out their family. Some students cannot afford simple school supplies. Beside that, our school is trying to do what we can to help our students.

This year I have a group of eager students who love to experience math. They want to use math like professional engineers. For example they want to perform science experiments and create inventions. These high school students need materials like stop watches and motion detectors to enhance their experience in learning math.

In this activity, students will use the motion detector to collect and analyze data like real engineers and mathematicians. And at the end of this activity, not only will students develop a better understanding of speed, time and distance, they will also have fun.

Your contributions will make my students become active learners and have fun learning math. Your help will be appreciated and my students will be very thankful of the care that you contribute to their education
