A Tisket, A Tasket, A Reading Intervention Basket

My students need 11 different reading materials such as Phonics & Word Family Flip Books, Word Family Sliders & Picture Wheels, Sight Word Rings, and Sight Word Practice Boards. These items are used as reading interventions for students of all grade levels. These items can be used for several years to come.

I am the Response to Intervention Coordinator in our Pre-K through 5th grade elementary school. I coordinate the efforts of all teachers in our building to screen, implement interventions and track progress of all students.

We attempt to identify and intensely intervene upon the students who are most at risk for difficulties in reading. Studies have shown that 88% of children who struggle at the end of 1st grade will also struggle at the end of 3rd grade. If left untreated, most of these children will continue to have difficulty reading for their entire lives.

Response to Intervention is a solution to reach every child. We strive to prevent disabilities before they happen. We will use the materials to implement reading interventions. Students will get to use these materials either in a group or individually. Specific skill activities or centers (i.e. phonemic awareness, phonies, etc.) will be targeted through these materials. Items requested include decoding, sight word and word family interventions. This will directly impact the student's ability to succeed academically.

Your donation will help a child to receive prescriptive interventions. This is vital in their elementary school learning process. If you didn't have proper materials at school, do you think you could read this?
